superheroAugust 16th 2011- Wild Women I will be using Facebook allot because it is so easy to just post what I will be thinking. Little reminders to you. I will also be emailing a couple emails to go over last minute safety guideline and changes. Also on Facebook I will add videos that I made on my spare time trying to answer questions that you women have had about Wild Women. So please keep checking back to Facebook and everyone feel free to ask questions on Facebook. Usually the questions that you ask are the same questions being ask by other wild women. This way I can answer it one time instead of 15.

spiderwomanAugust 16th 2011- Wild Women staying overnight you can start to check in at 3:00 pm. Bernadette will be your Wild Women hostess. Please report to the Tabernacle area when you get to Camp Harmony and we will assist in getting you squared away.

Women staying we will be eating dinner at 6:30 pm and the next morning we will have a complimentary continental breakfast.

You need to bring bed sheets, pillow and then any other gear that you would need to stay overnight. Any questions about staying over please email me at mcroce@maradnet.com

supergirlAugust 16th 2011- Ladies please try to be at the Campgrounds early. Registration will open 6:30 am. Wild Women who have never been up to the Campgrounds it is very easy to get lost. Every year I get frantic calls on my cell phone of women who are trying desperately to find the challenge and I always get those calls after the challenge because cell phone reception up at the campgrounds is terrible and there is no service. That morning I will not be able to help you navigate to the campgrounds you are on your own. So make sure you know where you are going. Remember we are not using two campgrounds this year we are solely at Camp Harmony if you go to Summer's Best where we usually base out of you will be wondering where everyone is when your standing there alone with your bike.

Here is the Camp Harmony website: http://www.campharmony.org/

superheroAugust 16th 2011- Food and drinks on the route, at transition area, and finishline are for participants only. Again no one but participants will be allowed in transition area. Friends and relative who are there to watch the challenge can purchase food and drink at the concession store there at Camp Harmony.

August 16th 2011- When you get here on Saturday morning please park your car in the lower field. Do not park near the tabernacle. Once park please head to the tabernacle for registration. Also anyone who is coming to watch the challenge should be there either by 8:00 am or they need to come after 9:30 am. We do not want traffic and Wild Women mix together when we start the challenge. The challenge will be challenging enough without that although now that I think of it dodging moving cars isn't a bad idea. Maybe next year.

Also along the bike route your friends and relatives can find little inlets in which you can park your car get out your chair and wait for your wild women to come around on the bike. We also welcome your friends and relatives to watch you on the obstacle course and greet you at finishline. However please note that ONLY PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ALLOWED ON OBSTACLE COURSE AND TRANSITION AREA. PLEASE DO NOT LET CHILDREN RUN ON THE COURSE OR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT PARTICIPANTS NEED TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY OF PARTICIPANTS.

Again you are more than welcome to watch but please stay clear of the route.

spiderwomanAugust 16th 2011- There will be a Chinese Auction which will include some awesome prizes donated by our sponsors. Tickets for the Chinese Auction can be purchased that morning at registration and also during the end of the challenge up to 1:00 pm which is the time we will start the award ceremony. Also Feast tickets can be purchase that morning at registration. The feast is free to all participants Adults 12 and up is $16.00 Children 5-11 $8.00 Children under 4 Free.We will also have the concession stand open for people who just want to grab a drink or snack.
superheroJuly 22 2011- Ok now the fun really begins. Look for the beginning of next week to get your first email regarding Women in the Wild. The email will be to welcome you as a registrant of Women in the Wild. This assures me that your email is working properly. The next email to follow close after will be your T-shirt pick. Three different designs for you to choose from. You will have a couple days to make that decision. In regard to the T-shirts I hope to have some exciting news for you on that front. I am waiting for solid confirmation before I annouce that news. Keep your fingers crossed.
superheroJuly 22 2011-Along with the T-shirt pick you are also going to be ask about the choice of Obstacle Course. You will have to make this decision when sending back the email for the tshirt. So there will be a section of the form Superwoman Obstacle Course which is the fun one or Kryptonite Course which is the advance endurance brutal course. You will choose one and that will be a done deal. BIG NEWS ON THE KRYPTONITE FRONT PLEASE READ: Ok during the training sessions it was brought to my attention that a few of you would like to do more mileage on the run/walk and bike but do not want to venture into the Kryptonite obstacle course. SOOOOOO I have decided that we will make a third catagory for Wild Women. You can choose to do the Kryptonite walk/run and bike but do not have to do the Kryptonite Obstacle Course. So when you come in from the walk/run and then bike your can end your Kryptonite venture there and do not have to continue on. And yes you will be timed up till that point. Just on the form check Kryptonite Course. Any questions please present them to me now on this matter.
spiderwomanJuly 22 2011-Alright ladies who knows what the weather will bring that day but the good news is that Camp Harmony is going to open the pool up to all you wild women for a couple hours to swim and cool down. So bring your swimsuits. If it's 90 degrees I'm sure you'll want to jump right in. Pool will be open from 2-4 pm.
supergirlJuly 22 2011-I will be listing our sponsor soon. Again I want to thank them for their continued support of Women in the Wild Adventure Challenge. If anyone else would like to be a sponsor for Women in the Wild I need a commitment by July 31st in order to have your name on the T-shirt.

supergirlJuly 22 2011-I want to remind everyone that the obstacle course could get messy. Do not wear your Sunday best and bring a change of clothes. Regular Superwoman Obstacle Course- you do not have to do a obstacle if you don't want to. Again this course is beginner friendly and we do not like to push anyone into something the are not comfortable with. Our goal is to promote fitness. Kryptonite your a different story-you must complete all obstacles and go to all checkpoints. You do have the option to call it quits at anytime which I am banking on. We also have the right to pull you off the course if we fill you are not looking well. The course is a brutal one and I truly see Kryptonite taking down 3/4 of the women that do the course.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT KRYPTONITE COURSE: IF YOU GO DOWN ON THE COURSE BE PREPARED TO HAVE TO STAY AT A CHECKPOINT FOR A COUPLE HOURS. VOLUNTEERS CANNOT LEAVE THERE STATIONS!!! SO YOU EITHER HAVE TO WAIT FOR A RIDE OR MEDICAL TO COME AROUND OR IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN SUPPORT THATS FINE. REMEMBER YOUR SUPPORT IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE COURSE, THEY CAN ONLY MEET YOU AT A CHECKPOINT IF YOU CALL IT QUITS.

IF YOUR SUPPORT COMES ON THE COURSE YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

superheroJuly 22 2011-Last call for volunteers. Here is the webpage for you to look over. We really need people to man the obstacle course and water/ snack stations. Also to direct traffic for the girls. And remember volunteers must fill out volunteer waiver so you can't sue my ass when some wild women runs you over. On the bright side you will get a great T-shirt and we will feed you some great food. http://www.maradnet.com/wildwomen/participant/vp.html

May 11th 2011-Word of Advice Know your Villians!!!!! You now have 4 on the radar with a couple more to come. Check them out here: http://www.maradnet.com/wildwomen/participant/villains/control.html

May 11th 2011 - BIG CHANGE THIS YEAR!!!!! Run first, Bike second. Reason too much bike congestion at the beginning. So this year we are going to try something different to relieve that. Every year I also try to send you guys in waves and every year my timers don't like that idea. But it's just too many of you wild women congested at the start. So we are going to try it with the run first and I think this will work out well. And by the way a little history about this: The first year we wanted to do it this way but there was a fall festival out there so we decided to do the bike first so you wouldn't be in the traffic when it came later. Well with 33 girls that worked great with a 133 did not work great. Again lesson learned moving on!!!!!!

Safety issue that I would like to bring up now. Every year I tell you wild women to stay to the side of the road and every year I have you taking up the whole road. Again please for your safety you need to stay to the right in single form as much as possible. When passing please let the person know "passing on your left". Wild Women it is a unnecessary tragedy when someone is killed on a bike because the were riding too far out in the road. Please do not do that!!!! I know some of you believe that your super ability is to be able to stop a car with your body but I really don't want you testing your superpower out that day!!!

Also bike helmet mandatory!!!! No exceptions. As we get closer to the challenge date I will put bike safety rules up on the main webpage for you to view.

spiderwomanMay 11th 2011 -Alright this year I am taking a step back on some projects and one reason is volunteers. Year three I learned very quickly you can't grow unless you have allot of volunteers. Actually a nightmare that I don't want to revisit. In fact I wish I had the invisible women superpowers last year I would have just disappeared out of sight. LESSONED LEARNED MOVING ON!!!!

So again the call for volunteers go out. As I get more volunteers I will be able to offer more entertainment for you super heroines but for now we concentrate on the challenge and making sure we are well staffed. Now I know some of you have been waiting to hear about the young girls challenge. Again the reason this has not come into existence is because of lack of volunteers to man it. Once I see that we have that problem taken care of I will develop the young girls challenge so patience. I will announce it on Facebook and this latest news section.

May 11th 2011 -Every year I am ask about the obstacle course at least 50 million times. The regular obstacle course in which the majority of the super heroine will participate in is all about fun. These are again very simple obstacles and their main purpose is for fun and laughs. Nothing to fear from these obstacles. If you really don't want to do one you do not have to as simple as that. After all the hard work you do on the challenge this is a nice ending to this event.

Now the Kryptonite is another story. This is where I am trying to accommodate are crazy, loco super heroines ones who always need more of a adrenaline rush and don't mind if death awaits them. We all know last year was our first beta try with this and again we need to fix a couple problems so you should see great improvement this year. However pricker bushes, poison ivy, and snakes still await you along with some other nasty challenges on the Kryptonite route.

One thing I want to say to everyone on both obstacle courses. I am not going to be giving you any details on either obstacle courses!!!!! This is where I like you to be pleasantly surprise or in the case of Kryptonite cussing me.

spiderwomanMay 11th 2011 - Alright super heroine I want to talk a little about the challenge itself. This challenge sole purpose and the reason it exist in the first place is to get women up and moving. It gives you a yearly goal to work on and the level is a challenging beginner level. By that I mean we give you all the time in the world to accomplish this challenge but for both beginner and a veteran competitor it will be a challenge. Also you can stop after any part you want and just enjoy the activities of the day. No pressure. The main thing is that you are up and moving and having fun and after the challenge you need to keep using your superhero fitness abilities to keep yourself in tip top shape to fight and conquer any villain that comes in your path.
May 11th 2011 - Alright weather has been a main issue on getting things together for this challenge but a super heroine is always prepared for challenges that lie ahead. This past week I made it up to Camp Harmony and was able to make great strides in designing the running route, obstacle, and bike route. Of course the bike route again remains the same except for the start at Camp Harmony. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read all these latest updates as the information is very important read for this challenge.

spiderwomanMarch 21st 2011- This past Saturday I was up at the Que and found this year's walking/running route. The running route will consist of both regular road and dirt road. For the first 3 year's it was about 75% regular road and 25% dirt. This year will be close to 50% split.

Definitely more of a adventure challenge route. The walk/run is a 5 mile route.

March 21st 2011-For the second time we will be offering a advance route for our competitive endurance wild women. Now the competitive route will be kept under wraps. If you feel you are a true super wild woman and can accomplish anything then you should have no problem dealing with what I throw at you that day. One of the biggest challenges you will have will be following blazes. We are not going to lead you by the hand with signs and volunteers you will have to make your own way thru the course at times relying on your own sense of direction with the help of blazes. Also I will say at this point road running, dirt running and trail running all involved in this competitive route. Some things from last year remain the some but other aspects are going to change drastically.

More information about this advance route will be up in May of this year.

March 21st 2011-Take a look at your first villain . As a wild superheroine you need to get to know your villains and what you are up against in the future. The first villain is found on our facebook site!!!!!!
March 21st 2011-The bike route will remain the same as last year the only change will be it will start at Camp Harmony. Also I am going to start the bike on the road and not in the campground which means walking your bikes down to the road to start. One question asked every year is what kind of bike should I have. I would say either a road bike or a hybrid bike is what I would use.

March 2nd 2011-Ok if there is something that you would like to see food wise this year let your voice be heard on Facebook. BE REALISTIC!!!!!

I know I have to mention that because I see it all know clearly in my head some of the answers I will be getting. Like Filet Mignon and Lobster are out of your budget. Veggieburgers will be on the list this year again. But give me some ideas and maybe MAYBE!!!! you'll see it there.

March 2nd 2011-NEW THIS YEAR- LODGING ONLINE-You can pay with Active.Com for lodging and also thru Runwalkjog.com if you choose to register with either online sites. And of course you have the option to send it via mail as you did last year.

March 2nd 2011-Alright one of my sidekicks pointed out that I may need to point out that you do have a choice of obstacle courses. Now when you get to the obstacle part of this challenge you have a choice you can take the "Girl Superhero's just want to have fun challenge route" or you can take the " Death is not a factor for me route"

YOUR CHOICE!!!! NO PRESSURE

The fun route will be lots of fun and again no pressure to do any obstacle that you don't want to do.

February 25th 2011- Calling all Wild Women. It's time to dust off those crime fighting outfits and get ready for the 4th Annual "Women in the Wild Adventure Challenge".

February 25th 2011- I say this every year so why should this year be any different!!!!! VOLUNTEERS, VOLUNTEERS, VOLUNTEERS. Ladies the biggest problem Women in the Wild has is finding enough volunteers to do everything we would like to do for this event. At this point I will consider villains to fill spots. So talk to your sidekicks and see if anyone is willing to come help us the day of the event.

I am going to be smart this year and prepare for the worst which means I am going to think small. Instead of thinking I will have 60 volunteers I will think all I am going to have is 20. So you first assignment as a Super Wild Women is finding volunteers. Again the more volunteers the more ideas in my brain I can use!!!!!!! Which means the more fun you'll have. Also volunteers will get a free meal and a T-shirt and if you want to throw in you own perks for the cause I would appreciate that.

February 25th 2011- BIG CHANGES!!!!!!!

The first biggest change that you will see is that this event will be taking place at Camp Harmony only. When the Adventure Challenge started we started as part of Women in the Wild Relaxation Retreat. With 33 Wild Women that work out great, When we had 133 that didn't work well AT ALL!!!!! Bottom line you cannot mix wild woman with woman trying to relax.

Last year we had to share the Summer's Best side because there was no time slot available where we could have it to ourselves. That created problems. Especially the night before for preparing for the event. We were limited to the use of certain space which made it hard to again prepare for this event.

Add to that the fact that having both campgrounds was a little confusing last year. Ok ok allot confusing. Also again and not to beat it into the ground, the lack of enough volunteers. We just don't have enough volunteers to venture into using two campgrounds. So it was just spreading everything too thin.

And I all think we know cell phone reception was terrible I was running back and forth to each camp and I could not connect with my people and they needed answers to questions or problems and I couldn't help them which was beyond frustrating. I was ready to throw my cellphone into the water. I think I made 1000 calls that day and no sooner would I start talking to someone then I would loose connection. Unless you stood in a specific spot you were basically messed over.

Camp Harmony is a much bigger campground and for that reason we decided to have this event with Camp Harmony. Also they did a fantastic job feeding everyone last year. Nikki is use to feeding multitudes of people so that went well. Parking always seems to be a problem at Summer's Best and Camp Harmony has a huge field in order to park cars.

So were going to give this a shot this year and see what happens. Again you never know what I have planned for you wild women and that's how I like to keep it. Every year I plan to have it different then the next to keep you guys on your toes and really so that we don't get bored.

Another big change is Wild Women is being held in August. Two reasons. It was the only weekend available because the campground was already booked. Second reason we were thinking that we may be able to pull more volunteers because football season will not have started. And I could add a third reason being August is going to make this challenge much more challenging with the hot weather which in my opinion is a plus.

February 25th 2011- Ladies there will be three very important forms of contact for wild women to keep you informed. One is "Latest News" which is this page. Please check this page every once in awhile for updates. Also the main page will continue to grow with information as we move along.

Second Facebook. I will put last minute information up on Facebook and also answer questions that you may have.

Third is thru email. Now email is very important so make sure I have a working email. Last year people who registered would call or ask why didn't I get that information and that would be because I didn't have the right email address. So you were left out in the cold. It could also be because you scribbled it too fast because you were so excited to sign up for this event that when I received it I did the best I could to decipher it. I know I have superpowers but deciphering scribble is not one of them.

Between the three you should keep well informed as information becomes available.

February 25th 2011- I mentioned this on Facebook we are looking into a mini Wild Women you the younger girls. I have had many emails about this. Now our problem is AGAIN volunteers and I need to get up there with Ashley and scope out Camp Harmony and draft up a route. Ashley is the one who suggested it and after thinking about it I thought it was a great idea. The weather has not co-operated with us this year so as soon as we get some great weather I will be up there looking into that. As soon as we have information for you I will post it. What I would love to have happen is they younger girls joining there moms in the fun obstacle course. Again we will brain storm and figure something out.

February 25th 2011- Ok wild women we are off to a great start. I am actually 3 days ahead of the game from last year releasing the main page and the latest news. I also want to let you know that we have come up with some great ideas for this year's event. And while walking the dog I came up with what I believe is the best idea yet and all I need to make this happen is VOLUNTEERS!!!!!!! Other than that my team does not want to hear about it because I have given them enough already.

February 25th 2011-Every year we try to straighten out one thing at a time. Last year of course was problems at the Awards and Raffle Ceremony. So this year it gets priority status and I am happy to say that three of my friends from Greensburg have stepped up to concentrate exclusively on that part of this event. Nothing else just handle that.

February 25th 2011 -Last year was the first year for the Black Death so it was in a beta mode. I received great feedback from it and a couple negatives which happens when you try something new. You will see it appear under a different name this year to go with our super hero theme and on the second year you will see it get more perfected. Now I want to stress that the Black Death which will be called something else this year is a much harder course and one of the reasons that it is much harder is that you basically have to navigate yourself thru it. In other words you have to use your own brain power to figure out what direction you need to go by following orange markers. In our regular wild women obstacle course we guide you thru. So be aware of that when you go to choose which obstacle course you will do this year.

Also I might add in the harder obstacle course you will get beat up, bruised, bloody, ripped apart by pricker bushes, have a meet up with a snake every once in awhile, lose your direction, trip off a cliff, have bugs crawl all over you, etc, etc, and believe it or not that is what some wild women wish for. They have dreams of a trail that can kick their ass and leave scars and scare the crap out of them. That is why only those type of women (insane, crazy, nutty lunatics ) should be on that obstacle course. And that's why I have a ironclad waiver for them to sign.
