
Martha E. Gibson
Formerly of Springdale and Harmar Township
Martha E. (Schubert) Gibson, 93, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, in the Village of Mundy's Corner, Jackson Township. She was born April 13, 1916, in East Deer Township, to the late Henry J. and Elizabeth (Correll) Schubert. Martha was a longtime resident for more than 20 years in Springdale and 32 years in Harmar Township. She worked as a manager for the former G.C. Murphy Co. at various locations. She was a member of the Springdale Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years. Martha enjoyed making crafts and watching sports. Survivors include her grandchildren, Marcia (Lorin) Croce, of Blairsville, Richard Poliak, of Glendale, Ariz., and William (Tonya) Poliak, of Harrison City; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Schubert, of Plum Borough; and two sisters, Alberta Morgan, of Tarentum, and Ruth Bordonaro, of Tarentum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Gibson; son, Mervin Klingensmith; daughter, Diane Poliak; brothers, James and Alfred Schubert; and sisters, Helen Royan and Betty Parker. If you had the privilege of knowing Martha (Grandma), then you know what a special person she truly was. Martha could bring out the best in everyone she met. She always put her family's and friend's needs ahead of her own. Martha made the world a better place. All of us who knew her hold her and the precious memories she gave us in our hearts forever. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the PAUL R. AJAK FUNERAL HOME INC., 921 Freeport Road, Creighton. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, Lewis Anderson, officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Airy Mausoleum, Natrona Heights.
